As you may have already noticed, May seems to be jam-packed with hair and beauty related shows targeted at women of colour, such as the WITJ Show, Curlvolution and on May 25th and 26th - the Afro Hair & Beauty LIVE at the Business Design Centre, in Angel - Islington.
We attended the show last year and were overwhelmed by the number of brands exhibiting but we were however able to recognise the value in the opportunity this event offers as far as connecting with the brands and their representatives. One thing we were absolutely excited about, was the 'fly-ness' of the women at the event including the catwalk shows, hosted by the ever-adored - Alim Kamara (Griot, Hip Hop Artist & Activist/Entrepeneur) and Gemma Feare (Miss Jamaica UK 2013)
Described as 'the ultimate hair and beauty experience' - Afro Hair & Beauty LIVE is Europe's biggest showcase, exhibiting tens of mainstream and smaller hair care brands from the UK and international countries such as the US and France. Now in its 33rd year, Afro Hair & Beauty LIVE is the only place you’ll find award winning hairdressers, specialist beauticians and cutting edge fashion all under one roof.
The founders behind the event are encouraging you to take the time to be indulged with a customised manicure at one of the many pop-up beauty booths or take the stress off you mind with an Indian head massage or spa facial. The show will everything you could wish for from henna tattoos to professional eyebrow threading and eyelash extensions – all at cut prices.
There's more...The runway stage will be in full action with fashion shows, dynamic hair competitions and show special presentations from the leading names in the ethnic hair and beauty industry. Clothes worn by the models will be available for purchase at a one-off discounted price, from the Afro Hair & Beauty Fashion Boutique.
Celebrity Felicia Leatherwood known as the ‘Hair Whisperer’ will be at the Beautiful Textures stand.
An interesting part of the 2014 show will see the return of the interactive debate with well-known industry names as panel numbers.
The event will host free seminar programs covering hair and lifestyle related topics and will offer various giveaways.
