The Cast of BWNG And The 90 Day Rule

How will we ever define if 90 days is an appropriate time frame to let all your sexual inhibitions go with a new partner? For those of you who have seen the film Think Like A Man (2012) based on US comedian Steve Harvey's 2009 book Act like a Lady, Think like a Man, you’ll remember the whole idea of a lady not giving up the ‘cookie’ and the so called ’90 Day Rule’. In the film we watched one of the couples as they struggle to place their sexual desires in a box and wait until three months were up, because it’s supposedly enough time for a man to have done enough to receive sexual benefits. Afronoire got the debate going with the cast of the award-winning web drama, Brothers With No Game. Here’s what they had to say...

Nemide May

Character: Vanessa

Do you think 90 days is too long a timeline for taking the next step?

It depends how much time you've spent with your potential beau in that 90 days because it is quite a long time if you're meeting up a couple times a week. It is important that your relationship is not defined by sex so if it takes you that long to suss him out, understand what he wants, what your relationship is/ will be then by all means stick to the 90 day rule. I don't believe in rules when it comes to relationships; if I'm feeling him and he shows potential attributes of what I'd like in a partner AND I'm ready for a physical relationship with him then, yeah, I'm down.

Are men really willing to wait 90 days?

Honey, if a man likes you enough he should be willing to wait however long you need. If he's not then clearly he wasn't worth your time anyway.

Does 90 days automatically guarantee a man has done enough to be deserving of sexual benefits?

No! But at least it ensures that you've taken enough time to get to know the person. If everyone waited 90 days to sleep with someone it most likely would mean that sex wouldn't end up happening because we'd find out that they're completely the wrong person for us and we need to move on!!!

If a girl doesn't expect you to wait 90 days, what do you think that says about her?

Nothing. Let’s not judge a lady who has her own mind, her own rules and her own way of doing things.

Annameka Porter-Sinclair

Character: Sinitta

Do you think 90 days is too long a timeline for taking the next step?

I think rules like that are meant to be broken... follow you bliss that what I say.

Are men really willing to wait 90 days?

Maybe... If they are charmed enough by a feminine allure.

Does 90 days automatically guarantee a man has done enough to be deserving of sexual benefits?

[Laughs] This question makes dating seem like a video game where you have to win point to get to the next level, I think it’s an individual thing and more about the chemistry than anything else, the right time for both of you.

If a girl doesn't expect you to wait 90 days, what do you think that says about her?

Says she is a free spirit who is liberated and empowered, doesn't need a guide book to act confidently

Dani Molesley

Character: Simone

Do you think 90 days is too long a timeline for taking the next step?

No. But then I don't think it should be a conscious thought either. It should all be about comfortaability.

If a guy wants to get to the next step, he'll wait, whether that means he waits for only you or gets it from someone else, whilst he waits for you. Sad but true.

Are men really willing to wait 90 days?

Some are and some aren't. It's all down to the individual guy and his intentions. Some guys just want sex and so will move on to the next one if a woman's being 'long' whilst other guys see that woman as their 'wife' or 'potential wife' and so will wait the duration, because they want her and only her. And yes guys like that DO exist. I can vouch for that. [Laughs]

Does 90 days automatically guarantee a man has done enough to be deserving of sexual benefits?

Of course not! [Laughs] No amount of days is a guarantee. How you choose to spend time with a woman and how you make her feel will depend on whether a guy gets any sexual benefits... and which ones? [Laughs]

If a girl doesn’t expect you to wait 90 days, what do you think that says about her?

That she's human [laughs] 90 Days should not be the concern. How a man treats you and makes you feel, should be. If the time you've spent together has been special and a connection's been made and you feel comfortable and ready, what difference does 90 days make? Each relationship is unique and it's no one’s business but the two people involved, so it's not for anyone else to judge.

Daniel Rusteau

Character: Leon

Do you think 90 days is too long a timeline for taking the next step?

I don't think it's too long or short. When two people feel it's the right time then it is just the right time.

Are men really willing to wait 90 days?

When being presented with the rule that they won’t be having sex for 90 days it may scare a man off. it could scare off the time-wasters that aren't looking for something serious and can't be bothered to wait. Or, scare off the serious ones that don't like strict rules when it comes to two people getting to know each other. Guess it all depends on the man.

Does 90 days automatically guarantee a man has done enough to be deserving of sexual benefits?

No it doesn't. It shouldn't be down to the length of time that a man has waited, it should be when they are both comfortable with each other and ready to take the next step be it 9, 90 or 900 days. Also, I think we shouldn't look at it as a man "deserving sexual benefits" because it backs the notion of a woman being just a sex giver to the man when it should be two equal parties connecting and sharing something beautiful.

If a girl doesn’t expect you to wait 90 days, what do you think that says about her?

I don't think it says anything about her.

Issac Sosanya

Character: Junior

Do you think 90 days is too long a timeline for taking the next step?

Not at all. Especially in these times.

Are men really willing to wait 90 days?

Some of us are, yes. Me personally I would like to get to know the person a little more before intimacy. She could be crazy for all I know.

Does 90 days automatically guarantee a man has done enough to be deserving of sexual benefits?

No. However some men would like it to.

If a girl doesn’t expect you to wait 90 days, what do you think that says about her?

For me it would mean she doesn't really respect her body. If she felt this way with everyone she dated before me it would be a problem. Most guys I know don't respect girls who give it up too early and easily.
