AFRONOIRE is an initiative documenting the experiences and voices of women from Africa and the Diaspora whose work informs, advocates and inspires.
Founded in 2013 in the United Kingdom as a lifestyle magazine for Black women, AFRONOIRE has relaunched as a initiative with an advocacy-led approach rooted in respect for women's rights.
Focusing on their contributions across four deliberate areas: Arts, Business, Culture and Development, we are curating a visible archive of the ways they shape and move society.
Arts
Discover the women creating bodies of work that reflect our realities and inform our world view.
Business
Read about the women building, leading and innovating across different industries.
Culture
Get to know the women who carry, challenge and evolve culture through creativity, tradition and everyday life.
Development
Learn more about the advocates, educators, researchers and changemakers whose work builds more just and equitable societies.
Using editorial and multimedia storytelling we:
Inform through research and interviews.
Advocate by using our platform intentionally to elevate the voices at the heart of our mission.
Inspire by sharing stories that encourage action and change.
AFRONOIRE's primary community is from Africa and the Diaspora, alongside a wider audience of readers, partners, institutions and allies who are moved by and want to engage with the stories we tell.
Our audience
Based between Abidjan and London, we have previously collaborated with, and supported a number of brands, individuals, and projects with a focus on women's interests across different sectors.
We welcome partnerships that align with our mission. If our work resonates with you, whether you're an individual, institution, organisation, or company, we'd love to hear from you.
