Summer Hair - the season of colour is back!

Summer is here and the warmer weather not only acts as a muse for our fashion but our hair too.  Now that we can enjoy the sun we are feeling rather blue. Or at least our hair is thanks to one of the hottest summer trends!

When it comes to hair, women are willing to try anything that will make their locks look healthier, more vibrant and fresh. It is now summer and with every new season we are encouraged to revamp and brighten up our hairstyles to match our new brighter, and generally more expensive, wardrobes. A bit of sunshine (and we mean that literally) means that it is the perfect time to experiment with colour, length and texture.

Yet again bright colours are bang on trend but the new favourite shade is blue-green ombré. Recently seen on Kylie Jenner of the Kardashian clan, this edgier take on the much loved ombré style is well suited to darker skin tones, look to Azealia Banks for inspiration. The darker tones of the blue combined with the green work well with dark black hair, whether the hair is in a natural or texturized state. The blue-green colouring is not something that we haven’t already seen, with the likes of Katy Perry and Demi Lovato previously showing off this colour albeit in longer lengths and more blue tones. The great thing about this particular dye is that you can choose to highlight either more of the green or blue tones, depending on what colour you like and what best suits you.

When trying to achieve this look, the lighter the hair is before dyeing the better the result will be. As the ends of the hair are taking the colour, ensure that they are well hydrated and conditioned to stop the hair from looking dry, brittle and damaged.  A sharp bob either layered or long, gives the face a more youthful look, whilst turquoise curls or an afro gives off a fuller and bolder look.

Now go give those locks a taste of summer!
