Our Friday At AFWL 2013
As many have been excited about Africa Fashion Week London, we here at Afronoire were too and were counting down the days to the event! Having never been, we of course had expectations - good and bad (mostly good), based on the previous reviews and images I had seen in the past and prior to AFWL 2013.
Currently in its third year, and held in London's trendy and 'hip' town of Shoreditch at the Old Truman Brewery, the event showcased well-known and up-and-coming brands from various African countries such as South Africa, Congo, Nigeria and more. One of our favourites, up-and-coming brands was that of the children's line 'Aisu' which was inspired by 2 sisters' love for wanting to bring something different to the children's fashion world and boy have they succeeded!!

What we loved most and embraced was the creativity behind the fashion and the versatility and practicality that some brands offered through their designs. I was impressed by the accessories collection from 'Illay' which put the practical needs of their customers first.

The Fashion was vibrant, reminiscent of each country's culture, yet inspired by western styles, making it very modern, trendy and stylish. We exceptionally loved the designs by Halleros. When I think of a classic, elegant, sensual, chic, stylish and fun African woman, I can see her adorned in one the designs from this collection.

Some our favourites pieces were from Sluu by Sluvin Designs, Steve Mandy - which was very artistic!
