Jenny Garrett, the woman helping other women to rock their role(s)
I first met Jenny, at the intimate launch of AFRONOIRE, at the beginning of 2013 and remember, my recently turned twenty-year-old self, feeling extremely encouraged by her presence at this event. From agreeing to pen articles, making herself available for interviews and showing her support through collaborations, I can say that, Jenny simply shows up and gets the work done! This approach to work, I believe is integral to her success and the positive influence she effects.
Born in the UK to parents come from the Caribbean islands of St Lucia and Jamaica, Jenny has a BA in Business, an MA in Management Learning and Leadership, as well as a PostGraduate Certificate in Coaching. Her first job was in retail, before trying out marketing as she worked her way up the corporate ladder. It was in a senior marketing role in a business school that Jenny found coaching and leadership development, which has now become her vocation. Today, as an award-winning coach, speaker and trainer, with over 12 years of experience, Jenny works with individuals and organisations, using her experience in coaching and leadership development to inspire and motivate — empowering people to reach their full potential and achieve career and life changing results beyond expectation.
With the aim of ‘transforming the world, one empowered woman at a time’, Jenny hosts a series of webinars designed to equip women with the practical skills and tips needed to navigate work and life the best way possible. In 2015, Jenny launched the Happenista Project, an online coaching program for busy women. Structured in three steps, the program is designed to help women craft their lives, by challenging them to step outside of their comfort zone and take action, by dedicating 10 minutes a day or an hour a week to work through the content provided. Start with project one; continue on with project two and finish with project three.
The Happenista Project extends itself to a two-day ‘Life in Balance’ retreat for busy, working professional and entrepreneurial women, from the 10th to 11th of November 2018. 10% of the proceeds are donated to Rocking Ur Teens CIC - a social enterprise dedicated to inspiring, increasing aspirations and making social change happen!
