Tola Okogwu: Author, Hair Care Coach and Blogger
An avid reader and author of ‘Daddy Do My Hair’ - a children’s book series, Tola Okogwu is a writer and British blogger with a Bachelor’s degree in journalism who has written for several publications including Metro UK.
In May 2018, Tola launched her third book in the series ‘Kechi’s Hair Goes Every Which Way’, with the objective to tackle the relationship between young black girls and their natural afro hair in a vibrant, entertaining and educational way. Meaningful and important, the books encourage a positive representation of natural hair and ebony skin, because "our skin colour [is] the biggest signifier of the differences between us and other races and for the longest time we’ve been made to feel that there is something wrong and unattractive about it.” – Tola Okogwu

I am... incredibly blessed and constantly humbled by the grace and favour over my life.
I revel in... knowledge for it truly is power. Power to create change.
My work / creativity enables me to... stay sane. Where so much of life can seem outside of my control, my creative outputs become the anchor that grounds me.
I nurture and protect my state of mind / way of being by... learning, I am always seeking to learn about and discover new things.
Self expression is... an opportunity that should never be squandered nor taken for granted.
Creativity is... subjective, for one man’s art is another man’s trash.
I aspire to... be all that God has called me to be and a part of the change I want to see in this world.
I am grateful for... my family for without them I would not be the woman I am today.
An affirmation... I choose to give and receive all that is good and I believe that every experience I have is necessary for my growth.
