I did not wake up today to be mediocre.
— Dija Ayodele

On a clear cut mission to deliver quality skincare to people of colour, Dija is an aesthetician by trade with over 10 years experience. Her Kensington-based clinic has become a go to destination for women of colour seeking out facial treatments and advice for their unique skincare needs.

After years of listening to her clients lament about their frustrations at being able to find skincare professionals, Dija launched the Black Skin Directory. The platform enables women (and men) to find dermatologists, aestheticians and other skincare professionals who are specifically qualified and experienced in treating and working with the unique physiology of darker skin tones

The platform also features educational tips for women of colour to have a better understanding of their skin and hosts regular events for individuals to learn about skin treatments and experience brands that are available to them.

Read further below for a glimpse into Dija’s mindset, aspirations and motivations.

I am… a striver of excellence

I revel in… achieving my goals

My work and creativity enables me to… provide a platform for an often overlooked demographic in skin care. Skin of colour needs more representation.

I nurture and protect my state of mind and way of being by… setting clear boundaries.

Self expression is… living life on my own terms

Creativity is… the ability to smash goals with aplomb even when it seems impossible.

I aspire to… learn something new everyday.

I am grateful for… knowledge, love, family and friends that turn to family.

An affirmation… I did not wake up today to be mediocre.
